Message from the Chairman
Thanks to everyone who took part in TrashFest 2009. It was another fantastic year!
Despite a pretty constant downpour, we registered 446 participants this year, the most in 12 years and collected 4,820 pounds of trash, in addition to 2,672 cups/cans/bottles and 83 shoes/sunglasses that were counted. And 38 lucky divers found a painted rock as part of this year's treasure hunt and took home some great prizes!
Congratulations to the teams who won "Super Scooper" shirts in these categories:
I'd like to thank all the volunteers who helped out at registration, weigh-in, and the BBQ. This event wouldn't be the success it was without you! A special thank you goes out to the students from Texas State University who not only helped out at registration, weigh-in, and the BBQ, but also took the cans to be recycled for Cans for a Cure.
And last, but certainly not least, a big "thanks" goes out to our very generous 2009 Sponsors, and congratulations to the lucky folks who won there share of the $35,000 worth of door prizes that were donated.
We're looking forward to TrashFest '10. Mark your calendars - it'll be on October 2, 2010.
